Posing is an important aspect of facial expression photography. In order to capture the person’s natural smile, the models or clients must remain relaxed during the entire photo shoot.
A relaxed headshot client is a good client, Stress has a funny way of climbing up from the gut to your shoulders and face which will give a very stressed-out and unnatural look to the final headshot proofs.
Many portrait photographers travel to events such as weddings or picture days at schools.

ZEISS is Jumping Into the World of Smartphone Lens Accessories

As a wedding photographer and videographer, you need to be informed and educated on what’s going on with technological advances so you only have the best equipment and accessories possible. Today I found this very recent and interesting article on how ZEISS (the King of camera/video lenses as far as I’m concerned, IMHO) is now designing and manufacturing high resolution “fast” lenses for Smartphone use. Really? Technology moves forward. Some of the photos taken below look to be of very high quality due to the implementation of these new ZEISS Smartphone lenses. There’s no stopping it I guess. Please read on to see what all the hoopla is about. Luis 🙂

zeissexolens

ZEISS today announced that it is partnering with Fellowes Brands to create a premium line of lens accessories for smartphone photography, “setting a new quality standard” in the space.

Three lenses have been created so far: a wide-angle, a telephoto, and a macro. Each of the ExoLens-brand lenses will feature ZEISS optics and will be made with black anodized aluminum with white labeling. Look how awesome these miniature lenses are in satin black finish! Very sexy design by ZEISS.

Each of the lenses features T* antireflective ZEISS coating that helps to minimize reflections and improve light transmission.

Mounting the lenses to a smartphone will require a special device-specific ExoLens bracket that holds the phone on one side and the lens on the other. The machined aluminum bracket has a screw thread for the lens, a standard tripod mount, and a cold shoe for accessories.

Here is a sample natural scenic photo captured with ExoLenses by ZEISS Ambassadors:

The first ExoLens+ZEISS lenses will launch and ship sometime in the late second quarter of 2016, and will be compatible with iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6S, and 6S Plus (support for additional devices may come later on). Well there you have it. I hope these new Smart phone lenses don’t put me out of business for doing weddings. Yikes…
